After purchasing the site on Chapel Street, Inverness we have had a complete overhaul and redevelopment of the site. Costing in excess of £250,000 we worked tirelessly to ensure the whole store had a complete makeover for opening day.
Being one of Scotland’s most well-known home furnishers the redevelopment was an excellent opportunity to showcase our skills. Our expert flooring staff replaced all floor coverings in the store with luxury hard flooring and carpets. Working non-stop over the development period and covering in excess of 27,000 square feet the fitters demonstrated the high quality of service they put into every home they enter.
We are constantly looking for ways to keep our carbon footprint at a minimum. We understand that this is part of our responsibility. This is why in Inverness we removed all the existing ceiling and lighting and replaced with cleaner more energy efficient light fittings. This helped to ensure that as a store, we consume over 75% less energy than before.
Throughout the store you will be able to find some of the most stunning pieces home furnishings have to offer. To take this a step further, we have created screening and room divers throughout the whole store to give you over 50 inspirational and design led ideas. We wanted customers to feel at home within our store, and as you take a stroll around Gillies Inverness to see the pieces within your own home.
Finally, the store needed a focal point. And if we do say so ourselves we provided just that! The staircase was given a complete new lease of life and with the five suspended chandeliers throughout the store there is a touch of elegance around every corner.

We are really proud of the work done in at Gillies Inverness and would like to thank all of our staff involved. The site was closed for almost three weeks and a dedicated team of Gillies staff worked non-stop to give the end result.
Our Managing Director Ian Philp had this to say:
“A lot of time, effort and money has been invested in our new Inverness store and having seen the transition through, we are very impressed with the outcome. We got a good team on board, including a local joinery firm, local electricians, local painters and decorators, as well as a local signage company who have surpassed all our expectations with quality and finish. With extra thanks to our interior designers, the store has been completely transformed passed any recognition of how it was previously.”
“We have also carefully selected our furniture offer so that the store has good mix of contemporary, traditional and modern furniture, with a lot of unusual and interesting items added to supplement our core offers; we have even invested heavily in pendant lighting to create room sets with an extra wow factor to add impact and interest.”
“We are exceptionally proud of the development and to be serving customers in the north of Scotland. We have received very positive comments so far regarding the store and we hope more people can come down to see what we have achieved, who knows – they might just find that finishing touch they have always been looking for!”
