Having designed and installed a number of show homes we are delighted to be given the opportunity of designing and furnishing a holiday let to the Scottish golf market. This project was different to most designs as it had to be durable and practical for commercial letting, whilst at the same time oozing style and Scottish character! It was even disclosed that due to its prime location beside the Carnoustie Championship course, there may even be world famous golfers staying here in years to come if “The Open” were to return!
Being that this property has stunning views over the Championship golf courses 18th fairway, the aim was to create a ‘home-from-home’ for tourists and golfers visiting the historical town of Carnoustie. Providing visitors with a contemporary home decorated with traditional Scottish designs creating a warm and tranquil environment, which may be much needed after a round of golf in the typical ‘dreich’ Scottish weather!
With a high percentage of occupants likely to be from abroad our design team desired it should be styled with the most celebrated elements of Scotland to give visitors a glimpse of Scotland’s ‘best bits!’. We carried this theme throughout the home, utilizing a neutral colour palette similar to the typical Scottish landscape, with the addition of vibrant purple to mimic our national flower the Thistle. Moreover, we hung wallpaper that featured a motif of a stag and also hung pictures of iconic Scottish wildlife including highland cows and more deer! Lastly, we had to include tartan so throughout the house we fitted a luxurious tartan carpet and included tartan lamp shades to give the ultimate Scottish ambiance.

“It was nice to be involved in a project that is in my home town of Carnoustie, I hope that it brings more people to the town as it is a beautiful holiday destination. The house itself is fantastic, all of the rooms are spacious and bright, and what better view could a golfer enjoy than overlooking the 18th hole, especially from a newly fitted terrace!”
