Soft Glam Living

As the cold seasons approach the temptation to decorate using warm and dark colours is undeniable. But if you prefer to stray away from homely brown and cream tones then we have the style for you, Soft Glam. Soft Glam uses light colours and cool hues that make your room look spacious and elegant. By utilizing soft textures and materials the typical cosy atmosphere that everyone strives for in their home is effortlessly achievable – a quick win that doesn’t cost the earth.

If you’re inspire by this style then here is a rundown of our must haves to achieve the perfect balance between style and comfort:

Pastel Palette

If you love colour but want a tranquil elegant living space then pastel hues are a great way to inject ‘something a bit different to beige’ without being too opposing and stark against your room. Most pastel colours work well to get this soft glam look. We personally love this blue as it harmonises great with cool grey tones.

Voluptuous Velvet

For this look it is important to find the perfect balance between textures. While clean lines make your space seem vaster, injecting materials such as velvet and fur can make the space looks more subtle and liveable. After all, we all value comfort, and opting for soft and fluffy materials are guaranteed to make you feel cosy harmonised and relaxed.

Chrome Metallics

Chrome silver accent furniture maintains the cool tones that complements this style. Opting for polished chrome metallic finishes creates an effortless glamourous style and overall sleek look. Polished silver is also a great finish as most items all look like the same tone unlike gold where you get many slight variations!

Sheepskin Rugs

An easy way to implement a snug ambiance is to add blankets and rugs as layers on top of your furniture. Traditional sheepskins in a light creamy colour are the perfect fit for creating a bright and airy room. We do realise that practicality is important so if cream colours are absolutely a ‘no go’ for your home, then you can get beautiful dyed sheep skins in light grey and nude as well.

These fluffy rugs add a stunning feminine glam to any room and are very much on trend… and have been for some time, classics do not go out of fashion!

Flowers

Adding flowers or small plants to your living space help add natural colour and brighten up any room. Although, fresh flowers often come at an expense and have a very short life; artificial flowers are a great substitute, lasting all year round and look just as striking! If you’re not a fan of florals then small house plants also do the trick.

With the cold months fast approaching we think this look oozes winter chic with the cool blue, grey and silver colours. Winter means spending a lot more time indoors so we want you to love your home and be as comfortable as possible.  If you would like to re-vamp your home in time for the cold season then visit us In-store or take a look at our collections online at Gillies.co.uk.
