Conscious  Consumption Meets the Furnishing Industry

Have you watched Seaspiracy yet?

We know it’s had everyone talking about the enormous impact humans actions have had on sea life, the following statistics really are quite shocking:

“There is over 150 million tons of plastic already floating in the sea”

“46% of the Pacific garbage patch is fishing nets”

“There is enough long line set every day to wrap round he planet 500x”

There are many things that can be done to reduce humans impact on sea life, as detailed on the Seaspiracy website: https://www.seaspiracy.org/

If you’re and environmentally conscious consumer then one goal you may have is to make sure that you are buying products that align with your mission. As a business we are constantly looking to evolve and make more eco-friendly decisions that actively help our planet. That’s why we are now a proud stockist of Sedna® carpets! We are so happy to now be able to offer a range of carpets that positively contribute to such a massive environmental issue.

Sedna® are dedicated to producing ‘super soft carpet’ while ‘saving sea life’, in partnership with Healthy Seas and ECONYL they are on a mission to clean the seas of marine litter and transform it into luxury floor coverings.

Combining fishing material, including ghost nets and equipment, along with carpet waste, they recycle and regenerate them through the ECONYL process returning nylon to its original state and then polymerized into new high-quality nylon, which is then spun into environmentally friendly yarn to make carpets.

Sedna® helps to save thousands of beautiful sea creatures like sea turtles, dolphins and seals that will no longer get stuck in abandoned fishing nets. Volunteer divers from Healthy Seas carefully remove this harmful waste from the sea, providing a safer place for marine life to thrive and regain their rightful habitat without life-threating aquatic waste littering the ocean.  Find out more about the work and the process in the video below:
